Spoken words were recorded from the Windows Sound Recorder found under the Accessories folder in the start menu within Windows. The recording was using the highest quality settings available in the control panel for the audio device being used to record.
The recording sample was relatively free of distortion, but was almost barely audible. As usual anyone doing serious recording should probably look elsewhere as that seems to be the one thing onboard audio has never been very good at. All drive benchmarks were done using the freely available CrystalDiskMark 3.

This device was selected due to having UASP compatible firmware. We have native USB 3.
Of course the Intel C series controller which is part of every Z77 Express chipset is represented here as well. ASUS did a masterful job with the firmware.
However the board did have one serious problem during my testing. Initially all was well and it passed the normal mode and flash drive tests. Certain this never happened to Asus P8Z77 WS AI Suite II before at stock speeds. The same drive worked fine via the USB 3. After fighting with it for a long time, simply disabling UASP did not resolve the problem either.
After all that I was able to get it working again in normal mode.
So something is going on with our P8Z77 WS board in regard to this. It is interesting to note the huge difference in peak throughput between the Intel USB 3.

Though that is again only peak bandwidth. Performance from our other controllers all fall pretty much within expectations. Write performance is where flash memory struggles so our flash drive and SSD tests all clock in about the same results. Those modes do wonders for reads, but almost nothing for writes. As usual the other controllers all do well and indicate the board is working properly, save Asus P8Z77 WS AI Suite II the fact that the P8Z77 WS was unable to complete the UASP testing.
